digitone 2

Pros

• the sequencer will lead to creations using FM that you would never achieve or conceive on a opsix or any other FM synth. that’s how elektron stuff works. you get results you can’t get anywhere else.
• The strength of the DN2 are all the groovebox parts, though the FM synth is great. I pair my DN2 with the DT2, and together they are quite a team.
• I think if you come from a rhythmic sequencer background, and don't mind menu juggling (not diving), it is fantastic.
• The two Phased stabs and the glassy lad are Digitone 2 > Octatrack for Filtering and Compression > H90 Phaser > Syntakt Analog FX Block for some Filtering and Drive > Strymon Volante, with some minor perc and noise added by the Syntakt,...
• The other engines, extra polyphony, extra pattern length, and new effects really expand the sonic palette and make working with it so much faster and more intuitive for me.

Cons

• I picked up a DN2 a month ago, it’s super fun as a whole but if I picked it up just to play its engine in a monotimbral fashion through an external keyboard, I would not be happy with the value.
• A lot of people seem to like it, but I don’t - if we’re talking about it purely as a synth. In terms of the whole package it’s great, and even as a synth I’d say it’s not bad, especially considering the size, but there’s a lot of alterna...
• I have a MC707 which doesn’t feel inspiring to me anymore so I’m thinking for a new machine to accompany my Digitone 2 and Novation Summit for a while.
• I think the recent digitone 2 release dropped process of the digitone and owners wanted to upgrade.
