I am really enjoying it. The writing is not the greatest but I don’t mid it and I really like the optimist solarpunk post post apocalyptic world they created. I also enjoy the card play and mechanics of the game and how the effect that trigger can tell stories all on their own.
Earthborne rangers is a co op deckbuilding game set in an open world, it's a campaign game. It's fairly complex and the campaign lasts 20-30 90 minute session for 2. It's not a destructive campaign so can be played again and again.
The only reason I haven’t played it since is because I’ve been playing Earthborne Rangers everyday
Earthborne Rangers was grinder than either of these. You build an efficient deck that does a thing, then each game plays the exact same - try to get your hand or gear or pets sorted early, then try to never draw cards again. Clear the same fallen trees and shoo away the same birds over and over and over, and maybe you will find the three cards in the environment deck that are unique.
I’m around Day 9 of my EBR campaign. Fun character creation, nice sense of exploration and discovery, clear rules with a great website that includes a rules glossary and the entire campaign text hyperlinked, making it way easier than flipping through the book.
EBR isn't grindy in the least, and is way better-written than sleeping gods, which I was very disappointed by.
