Personally I would try and find an X3700H or X3600H because they have a full set of pre-outs and the best version of Audyssey.
Get a Denon x3700h used to save money or updated to a x3800h new.
Got a used X3700H for $300. New firmware allows preamp mode. Using external amplification. Have it connected to minidsp which is connected to my Pi.
I run a 5 speaker PSA setup (MTM-210T'S, MTM-210C and MT-110 surrounds) with a Denon X3700H and it's plenty.
Also for a newbie trying to set up a 5.1.4 system, is there anything i should correct after running auddysey (denon X3700H)

I have a Denon x3700h that’s running a 7.1.
Had two denons, the last one x3700h lasted barely three years then failed.
Been awhile since I researched it for my X3700H, but I always had saw it made no difference.
