I have a 2020 Dell XPS 9500, which mostly works! Lately it has developed a screen flicker and I'm interested in tips about what to troubleshoot.

It was crap when it was out and still is crap nowadays, although natural selection has ruled out a bit of the more defective ones used
For an engineering student its getting pretty long in the tooth.... You may well want a replacement by your 3rd or 4th year. Also 6 years is a pretty long life for laptop in general... At minimum you should expect to need a new battery. Also do beware these models had a lot of QA and premature failure issues.
