I use Convoy T3s for that purpose with Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA batteries in them. Those have a 10+ year shelf life and can handle extreme temperatures experienced inside/around vehicles.

Convoy AA/14500 lights - T2, T3, T4, T5, T6 - with 12 groups driver. You need to program it once to select single mode group (it's a set-and-forget programming, you'll do it once without a need to repeat it after disconnecting battery etc.), and after it's done, you'll have a decent, regulated 1xAA (or 2xAA if you choose T4) light

Any Convoy flashlight with the 12 group driver can be programmed to 100% only mode. The T5 (very floody TIR) and the T3 (less floody reflector) are both good options.

Depends on the age but I'd go Convoy T3. That way you can put nimh in it or li-ion.

Convoy T3 with Nichia 219b as the most beautiful combination - beautiful beam (thanks to the rosy Nichia 219b), beautiful body, not so great UI (not bad, but SkilHunt simply provide the best UI imo), dual-fuel as well, doesn't have on-board charging, super affordable;

So in my emergency bags/drawers I’ve gone with convoy T3 & T5. T3 wide area lights and T5 for bit more throw. Reasons I went this route is uses a li-ion 14500 but can also use standard AA yes less bright but still have light. Also these just sit unused so convoy most budget friendly.

My recommendations according to the above comment: Skilhunt m150, emisar D3AA, reylight pineapple or penlight, convoy T3.
