all clank!'s are great games and the premise is the same its a push your luck deck builder with a board to race around to collect points or things which will make your deck better or mitigate some luck, but the base game is the first version while essentially the same the others have tweaked the formula a bit and are the better versions.
i'm going to present a minority opinion here, but i don't think so. as a deck building connoisseur i have a general problem with the way clank runs its card market* but i think base clank in particular is way too susceptible to a particular rush strategy involving the monkey statue pieces.
Original Clank! gave me MANY hours of joy and is still a game I’m happy to play anytime. Will I ever choose it over Catacombs? Probably not. But that doesn’t mean it’s not a great game still.
