Pros

  • I bought their ultimate bundle with the 20% discount from their free study guide last week and I have gone through part of HSK1 so far (I am a lapsed HSK4...), so I can't say that much about them yet, but it seems good to me and it's cer...
  • I'm currently going through HSK 4 (halfway through) standard course textbook with Chinese Zero to Hero (and some Mandarin Companion graded readers) because that's most digestable resource as everything else is nuts.
  • If you are doing HSK, I thoroughly recommend Chines Zero to Hero.
  • good options include Chinese Zero to Hero (comprehensive, HSK-aligned grammar and vocabulary)
  • I think it is pretty worth it, specially if you are a beginner, I bought their HSK 4 course and I found it really useful used along other resources of study

Cons

  • I've only used their HSK 1-2 courses, but they definitely do a better job explaining the grammar points than the HSK textbooks alone. Occasionally their English translation is subtly off in tone from what I think they are trying to expre...

I've only used their HSK 1-2 courses, but they definitely do a better job explaining the grammar points than the HSK textbooks alone. Occasionally their English translation is subtly off in tone from what I think they are trying to express, but it's generally pretty good. I was a bit disappointed that they basically ignore the pronunciation sections of the lessons (e.g. tone collocation, stress and intonation in sentences), and while there is a space for comments under the videos, you should not expect any response to your questions (recently it seems the comments have all disappeared).

The primary instructor is male and has a very clear, standard pronunciation. Their courses are structured around the HSK levels and are very thorough.

I can't remember if there was mention of where they were in the meeting the family story but I think the traveling guy was in or near 西安 where as far as I know it is commonly used (at least I remember John Long, Chinese Zero To Hero instructor from 西安, saying so, and uses it frequently in lessons).

I got the Chinese Zero to Hero course. It follows the HSK standard course curriculum so you'll also need the books. You get homework, additional resources, recommendations on what to watch, etc.

Chinese Zero to Hero is the only thing I’ve ever purchased for Chinese study that was actually worth the money.
