I would recommend something on the smaller size such as ember tetras, chili rasboras, CPD’s, etc.
Your tank would be a superb neocaridina environment with a small shoal of chili rasboras.
Alternatively, if you want some shoaling fish, a group of 7 or so chili rasboras would probably be super cool.
For your 5 gallon, if you really wanna do fish I would stick to chili rasboras (or other Borara genus), least killifish, or a betta.
