AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote

Charles Tyrwhitt is widely regarded on Reddit as a premier value brand for professional attire, specifically dress shirts. It is frequently recommended for its '3 for $100' (or similar) promotional deals, which users suggest offer a price-to-quality ratio that is difficult to beat for daily office wear. While the brand is praised for its extensive range of fits and customization options, some users have noted concerns regarding fabric transparency and a perceived slight dip in quality over recent years.

Pros

  • Exceptional value when purchased via recurring '3 for $99' or '3 for $100' deals
  • Extensive variety of fits, collar styles, and specific sleeve lengths
  • Sturdy 'workhorse' shirts that generally resist shrinkage and heavy wear
  • Highly regarded linen shirts and hidden button-down polos
  • Mid-to-high range suits offer quality features like half-canvas construction and 120s wool

Cons

  • Some white dress shirts are reported to be thin or see-through
  • Perceived decline in construction quality compared to previous years
  • Sizing consistency and durability may occasionally fall short of more expensive competitors

Caveats

  • Never pay full price; the brand is almost constantly on sale or has active discount codes
  • The 'customizable' program uses general half-inch increments rather than full bespoke tailoring

Best for

  • Building a professional office wardrobe on a budget
  • Men who need specific sleeve lengths or collar sizes not found in standard sizing
  • Shoppers looking for reliable, mid-range suits

Avoid if

  • You require thick, completely opaque fabrics for white shirts
  • You prefer the consistent sizing and heritage construction of higher-end brands like Brooks Brothers

This summary uses balanced time weighting with about a 18-month half-life. The evidence is older (median age ~19 months), so confidence is slightly lower regarding very recent changes in manufacturing or current pricing codes.

Charles Tyrwhitt is the only thing that comes to mind in that price bracket.

For the moment, I want to get the Charles Tyrwhitt but maybe there are better options

I just got one from CT last week in ocean blue. Wore it to work earlier this week. Got flirty compliments. Quality seems fine to me. I like it better than Banana Republic's linen shirt. CT fabric doesn't feel as rough.

Depending on what you mean by budget and mid-tier, Uniqlo, Quince, Charles Tyrwhitt, Banana Republic and J.Crew are all good places to look at

Charles Tyrwhitt, 3 for $99. I get complimented on my linen shirts all the time and I'm about to try their pants next.

Parent context: Is it as good as they used to be? Reply: If you can find them for 30-40 each I think they’re a good value, I would not pay full price though as you can probably find nicer shirts for 80-100 each

I bought a few button down from charles Tyrwhitt a few years back and then it was like 2 shirts for $80, now 1 shirt is like $90 and it's not even good quality.

White or light blue shirts, no pattern are the most versatile, find a brand and style you like and stock up. Don’t cheap out, Charles Tyrwhitt or TJ Maxx stuff seems good enough until you go up in price and find something you genuinely like.

For shirts I like CT for a daily shirt. Sturdy, decent cotton, disposable. Good sales too.
