paired with my R3, the centre of gravity is at the lens foot, so the camera doesn't dive when I carry it over my shoulder.
Had an R3 on loan from Canon for a week and found that I got my low light performance back - great handling, great response, and the autofocus was a huge step up from the R5 ... the R3 runs circles around the R1 so much for low light (we're talking 12800+ where I may need +3ev on shadows, partly due to correcting for vignetting which starts to look like a magic eye on an R1) that I picked up the first secondhand R3 I could find on marketplace and I'm overjoyed.
The R1 solves many of the issues with the R3 and the R5 Mark II. It has trillions of buttons, the eyerest is big and fat and doesn't fall apart like the R3's, it has speed and power, LP-E19s etc. But it's sat at the 24mp level of the R3, which just feels a bit on the low side when clients are wanting cropping in for delivery across platforms
A LOT more rugged, comfortable, nicer to use, immensely so, my favorite feature is the capacitive joystick. I cannot live without it... The DR is noticeably better too, really clean stuff even at iso 12,800... the battery life is amazing. Really top notch stuff on this body.
The bouquet toss is possibly the woooooooorst moment to use the 195fps thingy, It's only a 50 shot burst during 1/4 of a second and the camera FREEZES for like 10 seconds.
Reasons to get the R3... 1. Integrated vertical grip and larger battery. 2. Fast read out sensor, electronic shutter with low rolling shutter. 3. Touch controller AF button and eye tracking AF: very fast and easy to move AF point around. 4. Extra programmable buttons for faster settings changes.
As a happy R3 owner, the only thing I can suggest is that you try it first. Then, either you fall in love with it as I did — or you don’t. And if you do, there is no coming back.

I went from stills on 5D IV's to the R3 so they were a bit smaller. I did however fool around with the 6k raw video. Let's just say I'm really happy
