And I don’t know anyone who would take an EOS R over a 6D mark ii.
So I shot on 6d mark ii, and recently i got the 5d mark iii for dirt cheap for ML to be like a video camera, and I actually prefer photos on it over the 6d2 because the noise wasn't as bad.
If you want to keep the budget low, I would look at used prosumer or pro model DSLRs like the 5D mark III and mark IV or the 6D mark II. These are all excellent cameras with solid performance
up until recently I was still using a 6D mark ii and that's more than enough for 90% of stuff
Lots of people will say the 6Dii has mediocre dynamic range but the jump from your camera to either of those will feel like going from a Volkswagen bug (nothing wrong with them) to either a bmw or a Mercedes

the 6Dmk2 is a great camera
I just got an R8 and it replaced my 6D Mark II.
If you want something used, a 6D Mark II or a 5D Mark III on a Canon side gets you something relatively modern and will outperform recent phone cameras handily.
