Canon 100-400mm lens

Pros

• I took the 100-400 with my R6 last year on safari and it was great.
• In that case a 100-400 is cheap and at least gives you something to work with
• After that it seems even if you get a 400mm prime, the 100-400 is a better value.
• Oh okay, my mind is set on the 100-400 now
• You can supplement it with 100-400 for some telephotos

Cons

• I currently use the old school 100-400 with adapter.
• you’d need the 100-400 for the 5diii to match it in reach (quite a bit more $$)
• Currently have the R6 mk ii with a 100-400. It’s ok.
• And it's got a great motor, and IS. But the aperture range is daytime limiting. You can defo knock a few birds off with it, even the fast ones.
• I feel like the 100-400 doesn't have enough reach, as I spend most of my time at 300mm, wishing I could double my fov
