I personally would look for a cabon Synapse, with discs. It'll be way lighter and probably get tires just as wide for mixed surface.

I have a 15 year old Synapse. I am 275 lbs and the bike has 25,000 + miles (Dura Ace components) and still rides great. Replaced wheels a few times along with cassettes, pads, and other wear items. Excellent bike. $400 is no brainer.
