Albania has amazing beaches whereas Bosnia doesn’t have much coast access but has lots of beautiful waterfalls. Both have incredible mountains, cities, rivers - I found Albania’s smaller towns to be more picturesque but Bosnia’s food to be better (Albania has more seafood though).
I loved visiting Bosnia. I went a few years ago with my friends and we stayed a few nights in Old Sarajevo as well. It was so nice seeing the new and old parts of the war torn areas.

I had no issue taking a car rented in Croatia into Bosnia and Montenegro. You just have to tell them you're leaving Croatia and they'll sell you an additional permit.
