Pros

  • I reported them to BBB and a few weeks later the full refund was in my account no questions asked.
  • August Bradley is my personal favorite professional when it comes to personal systems thinking. He and William Nutt have done a lot of very interesting work in ontological development with their PPV and BBB frameworks respectively.
  • I had rousing success with BBB about 5 years or so ago. A moving company tried to scam me out of $1400. ... 2 months later, I got a full refund on that amount plus another $500 I asked for due to the absolute BS I went through.
  • I received a response from the company and refund 16 minutes after business opened on the the following day. This far exceeded my expectations from BBB. I'll use them again, if I have a similar unresolved dispute.

Cons

  • I'm impressed BBB was actually helpful, I've worked customer service for a few companies and people always said they would contact BBB if they didn't get their way. It never helped them AFAIK.
  • Just keep in mind the BBB will not help in this way for all situations. They aren't a government agency and serve as a glorified Yelp. Mileage will significantly vary.
  • BBB is a waste of time. They are a For Profit organization paid by companies to make them look good. They are not independen, nor unbiased, nor associated with the government in any way.
  • That's because the BBB is a scam organization whose only actual purpose is to convince businesses to pay them to give them a good ranking. ... They are basically a Mafia.
  • BBB doesn't mean shit lmao

BBB is a for profit private marketing company, they hold no power as a policing agency, attorney general, or government entity. It’s basically yelp for old people, where companies like Merchbar can pay money to make the bad review go away.
