Pros

  • As for the speakers, I'm getting "yeah, they do a damn good job at everything but aren't meant for Real Audiophiles (TM)" vibes... They're the ultimate set-it-and-forget-it speakers. No tinkering, no nerding out about circuits or compone...
  • I did find my demo of these pretty up there with the best I've ever heard and that room wasn't even dialed in. It is a great speaker that does it all
  • Between what I sell and what clients own that I’ve been able to spend time with, the 90s are the most capable speakers I’ve heard. A pair of B&W 804s connected to $60k in McIntosh gear don’t sound remotely as powerful or produce an...
  • These are very well engineered speakers.
  • it's the only speaker that's ever let him forget about the gear and his job and actually enjoy the music.

Cons

  • They are OK - no great shakes as they are like Bose - stereo everywhere meaning no IMAGING.

As for the speakers, I'm getting "yeah, they do a damn good job at everything but aren't meant for Real Audiophiles (TM)" vibes... They're the ultimate set-it-and-forget-it speakers. No tinkering, no nerding out about circuits or components, no steampunk vibes that tubes will inevitably bring, none of it. And honestly, I want that sort of thing.

Between what I sell and what clients own that I’ve been able to spend time with, the 90s are the most capable speakers I’ve heard. A pair of B&W 804s connected to $60k in McIntosh gear don’t sound remotely as powerful or produce anything like the sound stage of the 90s.

Although B&O are never purely about specs, the Beolab 90s are staggering: Hardware Makeup (per unit): * 18 Scan-Speak Drivers * 18 Amplifiers (16,000w) * 18 DSP units * 18 DACs

They are the best imaging speakers I've ever heard. Andrew also mentions imaging as one of the 90's main strengths in the review.

They have extremely precise imaging in narrow dispersion mode. In Omni mode they obviously sound very diffuse and works great for parties.

One of the best speakers in existence for sure. But it's kinda crazy that they started selling them at 'just' 70.000€ when released and over the years increased the price to 140.000€
