Pros
- I also have a BenQ th671st for outdoor movie nights.
- For short throw I’d also recommend looking at some other used models such as a BenQ W1080ST, HT2150ST, TH671ST. These will provide a large image at a short distance.
- Projector is a BenQ TH671st with 320h now on its first bulb for 300 bucks.
- You could also look for a dedicated gaming projector like the BenQ TH671ST or ViewSonic PX701-4K on the used market, which are big upgrades for latency and overall gaming performance compared to the Freestyle.
- Projector is a BenQ TH671ST.
Cons
- BenQ TH671ST - 1070$ - Seems expensive compared to the other options

- Also tested the older BenQ TH671ST - bit quieter than the TH690ST, but has terrible rainbow effect (RBE) that gives me headaches and eye strain
- I had a BenQ TH671st that I lugged around for backyard movie nights. I wouldn't want to take it camping or on a plane though.

Projector is a BenQ TH671ST.
Parent context: What’s your take on something like this https://a.co/d/2p2MXQz Reply: That's not going to work well. That projector does not have lens shift so you would have to use keystoning. It may not be able to make a square image at such an oblique angle. Best case scenario you would get a resolution closer to 720p and 1/3 the listed brightness, which would look terrible at that size.
But there are certainly a bunch of older 1080p DLP projectors (Optoma HD146x, BenQ TH671st) that could work - depending on the throw distance you have.
Also tested the older BenQ TH671ST - bit quieter than the TH690ST, but has terrible rainbow effect (RBE) that gives me headaches and eye strain
I personally have a BenQ th671st for outdoor movie nights, but there are a other options. You still are going to want to do some light control for best effect - but these these are 2000-3000 lumen projectors and will be significantly brighter.
