The HT2050a was an awesome projector. On closeout it was selling for $500. An incredible deal at the time.
I picked up a HT2050a for under $150 a year ago on the used market. It needs a good cleaning, but otherwise works just fine.
If clear picture, good brightness, reliable performance for movies and gaming are a priority and also at a reasonable price, can't go wrong with the BenQ HT2050A or the Epson Home Cinema.
fwiw my parents have a BenQ HT2050A and I love the 3D on it. Much less crosstalk than my Epson.
Still, HT2060 is a definite improvement over the BenQ HT2050A, as it has better contrast, a wider color gamut, is much more accurate, supports HDR10, and has a Filmmaker Mode.
I made the exact same mistake with my ht2050a. You've got to get right in there and clean the DMD chip. I was able to completely fix mine.
