Ben Holladay Soft Red Wheat Rickhouse Proof

I've really been enjoying the one I have open. I get mint on the finish and it's very appropriate for this time of year.

I think it must be really good because in general I prefer bourbon with a little more spice, and this stuff still tastes great to me!

Just killed a bottle of this in a month. Absolutely delicious. I almost wanted to stock up but there is so much good stuff going around. I was highly impressed. It’s my kind of bourbon.

I have a single barrel of this that is one of my favorite bottles in my cabinet.

You already know it, but this is really good stuff. ... those syrupy cherry flavors are so obvious on the first sip - even to someone hoping not to find them - that I had to admit my own folly

I love this stuff. Both this and the BiB. Very very good. Probably my favorite bottle at $70 now.

The Rickhouse Proof, imo, could go head to head with any Weller and come out on top. One of the better wheaters available and a great value for the quality. One of my favorites of 2024.

Parent context: I bought the BiB one and felt it was kinda watery and light. Maybe if I see the rickhouse proof I’ll get it Reply: Yes I would agree the BiB is a little thin, without the dilution the rickhouse proof is much better, but still wouldn’t say it’s the most viscous thing in the world like you’d typically get with some higher age stuff.

Wow. All those who commented on review #1 were spot on, the rickhouse proof is exactly what the BiB needed. Good in its own right, but not nearly as balanced as this sip. To me this still leans to the sweet side and I’m really enjoying the strong red fruits, and noticeable improvements in mouthfeel, and finish.
