Reply: I’ve never had a bear issue in my 30+ years in CO. Both a canister and spray are borderline laughable in my opinion since we don’t have grizzlies (that being said, I carry spray or a pistol because of an irrational fear of every twig breaking in the dark and it helps put me at ease and get to sleep when I’m alone, so I’m using laughable loosely. I hypocritically go against my own advice and if spray gives you a level of comfort, take it).
