Pros

  • If you like rye and don’t mind barrel finishing I would definitely look for their Seagrass.
  • I actually like this more than Barrell's Seagrass release, which came out around the same time.
  • Parent context: Barrell Seagrass Gray Label Reply: I actually prefer standard seagrass over this
  • I went back and looked at my review for standard Seagrass from about a year ago. I actually rated that higher, which seems crazy (3.5). The notes there were very similar, but I found that the regular offering was even more intense flavor...
  • honorable mentions are Sagamore Double Oak Rye, WT Rare Breed Rye, Russell’s Reserve SiB Rye, Alberta Premium Cask Strength, New Riff SiB Rye, Pikesville Rye, and Barrell Seagrass

Cons

  • I still see no reason to get seagrass at $80-90 when this can be had for half that and give a more enjoyable sipping experience in my opinion.

7 year malted rye double barrel is the other release. I just got one last week. Reminds me of Barrell Seagrass with a strong apricot note on the back end.

Seagrass is great, especially if you like finished whiskey. The grey label of it is quite the complex step up.

I’ve also heard Barrell Seagrass is a banger.

However OP mentions it’s like Barrell Seagrass and you can still get the T8ke limited edition one on Shared Pour right now and that thing is killer.
