Pros

  • Examples of what you could purchase include Kingrinder K6, Baratza ESP or ESP Pro, DF54.
  • There is a new version of the Baratza ESP Pro that is about to be released, some good reviews online
  • The new Baratza ESP pro would be a good option with none of reliability concerns of the DF grinders
  • Parent context: Uu nice, whats the diference between this and the pro version? Reply: The major differences are the pro has slightly more solid construction, stepless grind adjustments and a built in ioniser and auto shutoff. All pretty...
  • If hopper: Baratza ESP Pro [Encore™ ESP Pro | Baratza (US)](https://www.baratza.com/en-us/product/encoretm-esp-pro-zcg595)

Cons

  • I thought the Baratza ESP Pro due to a video I reviewed that showed the single dose option, which I would prefer to have. But I'm also seeing some reviews against it
  • the Oracle which suffers from a grinder similar to the $200 Baratza ESP Pro.
  • Ah. Mine was usable when I had it set for Chemex, but nothing in the espresso range is working currently. I may mess around with it a little more and buy/use a cheap bag of beans while trying to get it figured out, but I don’t have high...
  • Parent context: Yours could be fine. I just know mine has an entirely unusable range (the whole espresso range), as well as makes such dusty filter coffee it actually muddied my cold brew. Like what. This isn’t a blade grinder. Reply...
  • I never went as high as 50, just stayed in the 44-46 range for Chemex where it seemed to work fine. With all the issues everyone else is having sounds like mine will be going back as well…

I was so excited for the ESP Pro after the initial reviews but since they’ve started making their way into actual peoples had there have been so many complaints about clogging. It seems Baratza dropped the ball on this one.

I’ve been seeing a lot of posts on issues with the ESP Pro. I have an older ESP and it’s been rock solid. Return it if you can, Baratza needs to redesign this and recall it.

Parent context: Mine is going back. Baratza support has been radio silent after multiple emails. My ESP Pro is unusable at 39 and finer. At 50 it produces a ton a ton of dust still. Baratza told me to clean it. What? It’s been used 5 times. The burs produce an extremely large number of fines. You can basically see it. Reply: Mine is going back. The grinder worked perfectly fine when I was using it to make coffee in my Chemex. However, when I turn it to a finer setting for espresso, it grinds some of the beans and then it seems like it clogs.
