AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote

Banana Boat Light As Air is highly regarded for its lightweight, matte finish and lack of white cast, making it a favorite for body application. While the texture is frequently praised as being nearly incomparable in its category, the product's scent is a significant point of contention among users.

Pros

  • Lightweight, non-greasy texture
  • Matte finish
  • No white cast
  • Effective for body use

Cons

  • Strong, sweet fragrance described as 'watermelon candy'
  • Scent can feel 'unprofessional' or out of place for some users
  • Fragrance is polarizing and potentially obnoxious to those sensitive to smells

Caveats

  • At least one user reported that the product line has been discontinued
  • Opinions on scent longevity are mixed; some find it fades quickly while others find it lingers
  • The scent is specifically noted as being very sweet and 'vacation-like'

Best for

  • Users looking for a matte body sunscreen
  • People who want to avoid a white cast
  • Those who prefer a lightweight feel over traditional greasy sunscreens

Avoid if

  • You are sensitive to strong or sweet fragrances
  • You require a scent-free product for professional settings
  • You prefer the scent profile of high-end Korean or Japanese sunscreens

I can’t find anything comparable texture-wise to this sunscreen that checks all the boxes. The only thing wrong with it is the awful scent.

This sunscreen is the best I’ve tried for body… minus the obnoxious scent. It feels unprofessional and out of place, especially on a man.

A few that I really like are Beauty of Joseon, Banana Boat Light as Air, both of Byomas, Innisfree Daily UV defense and Neutrogena City Shield.
