August Home

Pros
- The nice thing about the August is from the outside the lock looks very similar and uses the same key which may be good if your landlord doesn’t allow changing the keys.
- I used August locks on my rental and was able to remove easily when I moved out. The newer August locks have built in wifi I believe.
- I've had an August for years and really like it. You gotta "tighten it" every one in a while (it works the screws loose over time) and it chews through batteries (I got rechargeables for it), but besides that? It's pretty great!!
- Slim design but needs bridge for remote access
- You can still use a standard deadbolt of your choice that it easily re-keyed & put an August type lock on the inside.
Cons
- I don't use Z-Wave but will be adding August to my avoid list.
- I don’t know about level lock but I did escalate with August (part of assa ably - may have misspelled). ... My issue was that their lock internals were failing and they kept suggesting I buy a lock mounting kit to fix the problem - would...
- Ya August Hardware is great, SW is...not so much
- August wouldn't work because its diameter was too wide and would smack into the wall
- Tbh, I already had them on my do not buy list after knowing their locks had previously been hacked.

I don’t know about level lock but I did escalate with August (part of assa ably - may have misspelled). ... My issue was that their lock internals were failing and they kept suggesting I buy a lock mounting kit to fix the problem - wouldn’t have worked and to show them I showed them the broken internals. Then the acknowledged that it was in fact broke, but since lock had been opened (simple screws) it was now no longer under warranty.
