Reddit take

Not enough linked mention summaries yet; the source excerpts below are the evidence.

Pros

  • It has five packets of reasonably good blades: the two Astras, Treet Platinum, Nacet, and 7 O’Clock green.
  • Many people think Astra is a good middle-of-the-road blade.
  • I use it to shave twice a week settling on Astra blades for the first couple years
  • Arko is at #34, Astra at #31, etc. ... Ranking is "most consistently positive" not "most used."
  • Feathers are too aggressive the Astras are better for me

Cons

  • Personally, I have found the difference in blades I use is pretty much zero. Treet, Astra, Gillette, Shark, and and and. They’re all the same to me
  • Astra and Navet are ok
  • Astra (both varieties) are some of the worst blades I have ever used. I always get skin irritation, bleeds, and cuts with Astra blades. First, second, or fifth shave have all been terrible for me.
  • In the states Feathers are like 5x the cost of astras (0.09/blade), so it’s not just you
  • Wouldn't the Astra fit into the “milder” blades category?
