Not enough linked mention summaries yet; the source excerpts below are the evidence.

Pros

  • Inovelli, Hue, Zooz, Aqara all have switches that you can put into decoupled/"smart bulb" mode and it doesn't actually switch the power, it just acts as a smart switch
  • Aqara and Sonoff are two brands I like for my sensors.
  • I'm going with Aqara for my smart locks. Theres are on Thread or Zigbee I believe.
  • If you rent Philips Hue or Aqara are two good choices if you want to stick to a single manufacturer and keep it relatively simple.
  • Aqara I believe links well with Apple Homekit and Zigbee services, and can be linked to Home assistant.

Cons

  • Parent context: Aqara is a bit controversial, since they do not fully adhere to the zigbee standard, so they aren't really working with the zigbee mesh very nicely, since they stick to their original route to the zigbee coordinator and i...

  • As for zigbee devices, try to *avoid* anything Tuya, Smart Life, and Aqara, since a bunch of those devices have tweaks made to them to lock their devices to their own brand hub.
  • Nie mam huba ikei właśnie, jedynie Aqara, Hue Pro
  • You can also look at Aqara.

Parent context: Aqara is a bit controversial, since they do not fully adhere to the zigbee standard, so they aren't really working with the zigbee mesh very nicely, since they stick to their original route to the zigbee coordinator and if that route is removed by e.g. a bulb being off, they have a tendency to not work and will need repairing. I have primarily experienced this issue on the sensors, not on their … Reply: I will also add, in our old place, we had 0 issues with the Aqara. After moving and getting neighbours with wifi, we've experienced bigger latency on things that are far away from the coordinator and then when guests turn off bulbs in our house.

I'm deep into the zigbee ecosystem - Sonoff, aqara, and third reality all do some great stuff.

Parent context: I enjoy the Aqara, documented set up and use on my site. https://www.thesmarthome.blog/aqara-smart-lock-u200/ it has finger print etc. rock solid since I installed it in February. Reply: Came here to say exactly this.
