i have never had a positive time with them. they either don’t turn on, don’t work for weeks, or don’t connect. 500 for these are insane.
The AirPods Max are essential if you want to let the world know you’re a douche; but they’re super expensive, fairly heavy, and not much value for money.
If you're an Apple user then the Airpods Maxes might be worth a look, but they are Apple priced too. Great sound on those, great cancelling.

they love to fail due to condensation in the ear cups, at the end of the headbands, the headband will start sagging eventually, they have worse ANC, frequency response, & featureset than the AirPod pros 2 & 3, other than for fashion there is zero reason to buy one at all

I really liked my OG but they were sorely in need of a meaningful refresh, especially at this price point. The battery is the biggest miss for me. The bare minimum is 30 hours these days, with 40+ being more and more common. 20 hours is just poor.
20 hours was already poor in 2020. These days Sennheiser, JBL etc. go to 50+ hours. Even discounting the annoyance of having to charge more often, a battery only has a certain amount of cycles “in it”. Meaning a Sennheiser HDB630 will last more than twice as long as AirPods Max.
The Max were the “best” headphones I’d ever owned, so they became my reference point.
But compared to the XS, the sound feels cramped. The Max operate within a carefully controlled range. It's pleasant but ultimately limiting rather than revealing.
