Reddit take

AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote

Anthem is primarily recognized as a high-end home theater brand valued for its superior room correction software (ARC) and technical performance compared to mainstream competitors like Marantz and Denon. While users praise its audio measurements and ease of use, the brand is associated with a high entry price and occasional technical bugs, particularly regarding HDMI connectivity. Additionally, the name appears in literary contexts as a recommendation for Ayn Rand's novella.

Pros

  • Highly regarded ARC (Anthem Room Correction) system that is noted for being easy to use.
  • Superior technical measurements and audio performance compared to many consumer-grade brands.
  • Often preferred over Marantz in direct listening demonstrations.

Cons

  • High cost of entry, with receivers typically starting at $1,300 or more.
  • Reports of software bugs and stability issues common to boutique brands.
  • Specific, persistent complaints regarding HDMI output reliability.

Caveats

  • The entity name 'Anthem' refers to both a high-end audio brand and a classic novella by Ayn Rand in the provided data.
  • Some users categorize Anthem as a 'boutique' brand, which may imply less polished software compared to mass-market manufacturers.

Best for

  • High-end home theater enthusiasts prioritizing room correction and audio accuracy.
  • Users who prefer technical performance over budget-friendly pricing.

Avoid if

  • You are looking for an entry-level receiver (under $1,000).
  • You want to avoid potential HDMI handshake or output issues.

I don't care about these cables, the main problem is the Anthem hdmi out, nothing can solve that problem.

The Anthem still has HDMI out problems, that is solved with HDMI splitter.

When just listen to casual Music or electronic stuff i'll take the Apple-TV and Surround mode on my Anthem.

I primarily sell Marantz and Anthem. Marantz's least expensive receiver is a 5.2 slim line which costs $600; their least expensive 7.2 is $1300. You can't even pick up an Anthem for less than $1300.

Otherwise I’d say Anthem is the best of the high end for consumer use.

In my experience, avoid the boutique brands like Nad and anthem, they're riddled with bugs.
