Pros

  • Switch to a bear resistant bag like the Adotec or Ursack.
  • Do you mean a bag for bear hangs, or are you also not interested in bear-resistant bags like the adotec which you don't need to do a bear hang for?
  • They make a good windscreen for stove also. The structure allows for good windscreen shaping.
  • Switched from the Ursack to the Adotec for the CT this summer and along with all the other reasons listed, I also preferred it because it didn’t absorb water.
  • I used both the Ursack and adotec bag on the GDT and would recommend the Adotec. It’s a much better shape compared to the ursack and I did have a black bear try to get into it and failed

Cons

  • Compared to bear canisters, the difference between Ursack and Adotec is minimal (the gram counters will beg to differ)
  • Swap your Ursack Almighty for an Adotec

I second the adotec. I did section A this past fall and had a 7 day food carry in the 14L along with my stove, pot, sunscreen, toothpaste etc. All the attractants. When I wasn't using it I folded it in half and put it down the back of my backpack. If you use a framless UL pack, I reckon you could use the adotec as a bit of structure instead of a sit pad.

I'd personally recommend the Adotec over the Ursack. (More durable build and better vs rodents)

I mean you can watch Grizzly Bears going ham on an ADOTEC for 15 minutes straight in this youtube video (actual test was 60 minutes) where it didn't get a food reward.
