I had a Acer with a 18.4" screen, I5 540m (or similar, its been a while), and a HD5850. Also came with a blueray drive, and a small subwoofer built in.
Acer: micro-USB port blocked by glued plastic; need to make damaging modification to remove it in order to update firmware.
Also don’t get the acer, bad screen.
Acer actually beat similar hardware compared to in an Asus for a good while just because they went with standard timing instead of "handtweaked".
But apparently Acer has dropped the dual radiator setup (that the thinkbooks and some thinkpads, and most other brands favour), and started to add more fans on a single radiator. And that just means more noise and a constantly running fan, as well as higher heat on that one radiator.
Acer and AOC
I have used mid-range color accurate Acer's for the last decade, but lately they have just got ridiculous with their namings and mystery panels and new sub models that have worse panels but using a highly rated display's name, or cheaper black friday/sale versions of panels with poor power supplies that fail.
But, I think it's only a few days or something if I remember right. It's been forever since I've had to deal with Acer.
