1Zpresso X-Ultra

I'm looking at 1ZPresso grinders for aeropress and traveling. Does anyone have the OD of the catch cups on the X-Ultra and the K-Ultra?

The X-Ultra should make quite a bit better coffee than the K6. I have one as my one and only grinder and I honestly have mixed opinions on it. The good: * The coffee: it makes an amazing cup and there's nothing that comes close to it for the same price * Adjustability: it has really small steps and a ridiculously wide range of grind settings, which means that while the burrs are designed to work best with pourovers, you can use it with literally any method and with how tiny the adjustment steps are, you can dial it in perfectly. The external adjustment dial is quick and easy to change. * The foldable handle is great for travelling * It looks pretty, especially in blue The bad: * It's really uncomfortable: at 52mm, it's narrower than most hand grinders and thus I can't grip it as well with my fairly large hands. The surface is sandblasted aluminium and feels similar to rough ceramic tiles. It's not particularly grippy, and the tiny rubber band that the grinder comes with doesn't help that much. My wife has a weaker grip and small hands and it's completely unusable for her on finer grinds. I partly fixed the issue on mine by putting a [tennis overgrip](https://i.imgur.com/QhSLYxv.jpeg) on it. It definitely helped, but it's still not as comfortable as my old JX. * The external adjustment dial: changing it accidentally is just as quick and easy as changing it on purpose. When gripping it, I need to be millimeter perfect since my hand is exactly as wide as the distance between the adjustment ring and the magnetic catch cup. If I go a couple mm too high, it'll change the grind setting while grinding and fuck up the whole brew. If I go a couple mm too low, it'll slightly twist the catch cup, which will cause it to fall off. * The fucking catch cup: jesus fuck, nobody who worked on it actually tested it. The magnets around the cup have alternating poles, so that when you twist it, it immediately pops off. It also pops off if you bump it. Or if your hand is placed just a little bit too low when using it. There's almost zero tactile indication that you're grabbing the cup or adjustment dial instead of the grinder since its entire length has the exact same width and texture. * It's small: its capacity maxes out at around 25g, maybe 30g if the beans are lightly roasted and physically small, so you'll need to grind in batches if you're making a big brew. * Like all 1Zpresso grinders, the knob is faulty. It will come loose eventually. It's not really an issue if you bought it from Amazon, since they have good customer service and will just refund you and tell you to send it back if it's under warranty (it's what happened to my previous JX and what I'm about to do to the X-Ultra), but it's still annoying and wasteful. Comandante knobs are 15ish€ and fit them perfectly, but I don't particularly enjoy the thought of spending my own money to fix a known design flaw. Tldr: it's stupidly designed with form over function, but it makes absolutely unbeatable coffee in its price range and is really versatile.

Anyway, my initial research has me leaning toward the Encore ESP, 1zPresso X-Ultra, or the Kingrinder K6.
