Bazzite and Ultramarine are both distros based on Fedora that work well with games and day to day stuff in general.

AI summary — not a quote

Linux Mint XFCE is highly regarded as a top-tier choice for reviving older or low-spec hardware. Users consistently praise its speed and lightweight nature, often describing it as a "wicked fast" solution for "potato" PCs and older laptops. While it is noted for being stable and functional out of the box, some users find the default aesthetic a bit plain and suggest that it requires manual tweaking to look modern.

Pros

  • Excellent performance on older hardware, including devices with as little as 3GB to 4GB of RAM.
  • Extremely lightweight and runs smoothly, especially when paired with an SSD.
  • Highly stable and reliable for daily tasks like web browsing and office work.
  • A go-to recommendation for users switching from Windows on older machines.

Cons

  • The default user interface is described as plain or "no-frills."
  • May require manual customization/tweaking for users who prefer a modern visual aesthetic.

Mint XFCE! Cinnamon one can perform quite bad on lower end machines, for example on my T480 (i5-8350u) it works quite bad, compared to something like KDE Plasma.
