Medication can help with the symptoms of a shit marriage, but without addressing the actual issues, it's just a bandaid. Think taking Tylenol for headaches instead of treating the brain tumor causing them.
The only over the counter medication I have ever needed for my child at that age is Paracetamol (Tylenol) suppositories
Tylenol also helps with the initial soreness at the injection site, so we gave it regardless of fever and it helped a lot. Also, infant Tylenol is 100% safe when given correctly, so it’s not necessary to give sparingly if it’s helping your baby.
You can give Tylenol (if peds is ok with it) once he seems grouchy, it takes like, 10 minutes to kick in. The liquid suspension works pretty quickly.

If that doesn't help, you could try offering prunes/prune juice, or just juice in general, but I'll admit I usually go straight for the Miralax.
Miralax is very mild and you can safely take it daily to get things movimg and keep things moving.
As to travelers constipation, I travel with MiraLAX and find it gentle and reliable. Has no taste, can even stir it into your morning coffee.
We had no enemas, no suppositories, and only miralax which said it would take 24-72 hours to kick in.
My baby gets a bottle with 1oz prune juice, 3-4oz water, and a 1/2 tbsp of miralax every morning.
