Honestly I'd say the R6 Mk II is the sweet spot right now between the Mk I, II, and III. The I isn't that much cheaper (about $1500 used vs $2100 at current discount) but the II has more megapixels (better for cropping e.g. in sports), significantly better autofocus, better thermals for video, 40 fps e-shutter, etc. — meaningful differences.
