Miyajima is a highly acclaimed island destination near Hiroshima, frequently described as a highlight of Japan travel. It is best known for the Itsukushima Shrine's 'floating' Torii gate, Mt. Misen hiking trails, and a peaceful atmosphere that contrasts with nearby urban centers.
Pros
- Stunning scenery including the iconic Torii gate and Mt. Misen
- Peaceful and quiet atmosphere after the last ferry departs
- Excellent hiking opportunities and nature trails
- Unique 'small town' vibes similar to Nara
Cons
- Can feel extremely rushed if combined with Hiroshima in a single day
- Daytime crowds can be significant
- Travel time between Hiroshima and the island can be deceptively long

Half a day in Miyajima and half a day in Hiroshima is really busy. It's doable (I've done it) but it's a pretty packed day. Even though Miyajima is just outside Hiroshima, it can take deceptively long to get between the two.
Miyajima is like a whole day thing, they are doing yourself a dis-service to not get their early, take the ropeway up to the top, explore the grounds, the temples, there are so many things to see and do at Miyajima, and its really wonderful.
If you do that, its worth spending the night on Miyajima. The island is really peaceful once the boats leave, and it was cool going to see the shrine at sunrise, with only about 50 people around.
OP probably stole the pictures based on some being from South Korea and another person noting the dates on some of the places are wrong (like, saying March, not September level of wrong), but that torii is probably the one in Miyajima.
Miyajima is really beautiful in fall.

Hampton court palace has old brick parts and chimneys that are interesting.
Don't miss Hampton Court Palace if you are into the Tudors. Head down on a sunny day, by river ideally, as King Henry would have. Great day out, and a fabulous boozer opposite.
Windsor Castle, tower of London and Hampton Court are more legitimate
Visit Hampton Court Palace? Just came across this one while scanning Maps, it looks gorgeuos.
