AI summary — not a quote

Makita is widely regarded by users as a highly reliable and durable professional-grade tool brand, frequently compared to Toyota for its longevity and consistency. It is a top choice for professional construction and heavy-duty work, though some users find the price point high for casual home use.

Pros

  • Exceptional durability with reports of tools lasting over 6 years in daily construction use.
  • Batteries are noted for fast charging speeds and long lifespans.
  • High-torque performance, specifically praised in D-handle drills for mixing heavy materials like mortar and grout.
  • Compact battery design compared to some competitors.

Cons

  • High cost can make it difficult for non-professionals to build a full kit.
  • Robertson (square) bits are reported to be of poor quality.
  • High theft risk on job sites due to brand value.

Makita doesn’t ever flinch. Nor should we.

My company was makita until the boss got himself a set of Milwaukee for around the house. ... I now have a nice set of Makita tools that they were going to bin. Not because they didn't work but because they liked the red ones.

Makita make good tools ( & unique tools, see cooling jacket & coffee maker) they just don’t get as many discounts & bundles in the USA.

Oh yes Makita is where it’s at. I just wish they had the diversity of attachments as other brands.

It came back to a few brands (Hilti and Makita mainly) and this is where I leaned heavily into. Being able to buy every single part for all my tools (have a shed full of Makita now) is priority.

I have the husky like others have mentioned. Absolutely no complaints. I’d get more if I had room.
