Parent context: Nice. I thought of getting the music version but didn't go ahead with it. Reply: I love how easy the timer function is to use. And the alarm wakes me up by buzzing, so my partner doesnt get disturbed in the morning. It also is great for telling me how bad i am sleeping
Forerunner 255 has some more training metrics, but personally I think they are useless
Parent context: I had 255 and now I have 265.. of course everything is more advanced.. screen is 1000x better.. More activities added.. I turned off touchscreen, I don’t need it too.. Reply: It's literally the same watch, with just OLED and Training Readiness.
If you don't need music on your watch (will be running with your phone either way), go with 255. It's worth it.
At those prices, 255 would be my vote. ... otherwise 255 is cool.

Just updated my watch after Garmin pushed me to do it for the 100th time. This is right before a big event I've been training for for the best part of a year, and now my watch is factory reseted and won't record HR or steps. The light won't even come out of the sensor. I've been trying it all, reseting, plugging into Garmin Express (that has crashed a few times in itself), and I'm now stuck on a blue triangle.
Forerunner 955 and Enduro 2 will have everything necessary at good prices, mapping if needed and longest battery to last ironman and associated training.
Maps and multi-band GPS, which is why I switched to the Forerunner 955.
Ive got a 955 and those extra stats can be useful, eg seeing training lowering my HRV has had me alter a week here or there, but its not like id be unaware im fatigued without it
965 is fantastic, you can go with 955, mip, very similar watch.
