I can only go with mine and my friends and family, who have all agreed that the DAC/amp was clearly superior (at the time, a cheap K7, btw...real snake oil, that).
A week later I picked up a K7 and was shocked at how much better it sounded than just using the jack. I've moved on from the K7, but the combo of full-range DAC and adequate amp power go a long way to improving even already "good" sound from the headphone jack.
However, if you spend a bit (Fosi K7 or FiiO K11 R2R), you'll get two major upgrades: 1. Most computers don't have full-range DACs, and either of those will give you a solid, full-range DAC
You could also sell your K5 Pro and take a look if you perhaps could grab a used K7 to keep the upgrade truly cheap.
