AI summary — not a quote

Blip is a cross-platform file transfer service highly regarded for its speed and ability to send files across different networks, including cellular data. Users frequently compare it favorably to LocalSend, noting that Blip offers a more seamless "AirDrop-like" experience for Android and Mac users and can operate in the background without requiring the app to be active on both devices simultaneously.

Pros

  • Supports transfers across different networks and cellular data, not just local Wi-Fi
  • Fast and consistent transfer speeds between various operating systems
  • Runs effectively in the background for increased convenience
  • Simple, user-friendly interface that handles both files and folders well

Cons

  • Not open source (proprietary software)
  • Privacy concerns due to files potentially routing through company servers during remote transfers
  • Reports of 'no internet connection' errors on some Android devices
