BenQ is widely regarded as a reliable, "traditional" brand for projectors and monitors, frequently recommended as a safe alternative to budget "no-name" manufacturers. It is highly valued for its long-term durability, repairability, and solid customer support, making it a top choice for both new purchases and the secondhand market. While some newer competitors may offer more modern features or higher brightness at similar price points, BenQ remains a benchmark for consistent performance and professional-grade reliability.

Pros

  • High reliability and long-term durability with many users reporting years of trouble-free use.
  • Excellent customer support and warranty service, including out-of-warranty repair options.
  • Easy maintenance and availability of replacement parts like lamps compared to generic brands.
  • Strong reputation in the used market, often preferred over new budget projectors.

Cons

  • Some portable or entry-level models are noted for lower brightness levels.
  • High volume of model releases can make it difficult to find detailed reviews for specific units.
  • Traditional designs may lack some of the 'smart' features or value-per-performance found in newer lifestyle brands.

If you're not sensitive to rbe & speckle then get xgimi, if not then settle for the benq.

BenQ are generally reputed and reliable, but they make so many models each has barely enough time for reviews.

A used Optoma/BenQ/Epson shits on any new 1080p projector at this price range and it's not even close.

AOC, TCL and KTC offer superb value for money. What they offer can usually easily outperform a more established brand's offering at double the price.

That said, I'd still go for AOC. Samsung are positioned in the premium nowadays and their budget stuff is just overpriced market filling. AOC are a budget-focused brand, so you're more likely to get something built more purposefully with them.

Honestly, the AOC is had to beat for the price.

AOC: forgets brightness settings on power cycle; unclear if defect is specific to my unit. Also appears to disconnect whenever the monitor goes to sleep, which is not proper behavior.

AOC makes pretty average monitors but has very above average warranty. I recommend their stuff if the price is right but I would check out other options too.
