AI summary — not a quote

The ASUS PG27UCDM is frequently cited as a top-tier 27-inch 4K QD-OLED gaming monitor, praised for its exceptional color, contrast, and 240Hz refresh rate. Users often describe the jump from IPS to this panel as a "night and day" difference in visual quality. While it is highly regarded for its inclusion of modern standards like DisplayPort 2.1 and Dolby Vision, it carries a significant price premium and has drawn some criticism for VRR flicker and potential panel uniformity issues like vertical banding.

Pros

  • Stunning 4K QD-OLED visuals with infinite contrast and vibrant colors
  • High 240Hz refresh rate providing excellent motion clarity and responsiveness
  • Support for DisplayPort 2.1 (UHBR20), allowing 4K/240Hz without needing DSC on compatible GPUs
  • Includes Dolby Vision and a functional Black Frame Insertion (BFI) mode

Cons

  • Significant price premium compared to similar models like the XG27UCDMG
  • Reports of noticeable VRR flicker which may cause eyestrain or headaches
  • Vertical banding issues reported on some units
  • High reflectivity due to the glossy screen finish

I went from a 165hz 1440p ips acer predator to a pg27ucdm and it was night and day. Literally had the whole family just staring in awe.

I find it funny how the PG27UCDM is touted as the best gaming monitor on rtings but has a ton of VRR flicker. Sure the other specs are good but the thing most important to minimise eyestrain, headaches and even motion sickness letting you game for longer in prime state isn't put into consideration at all from what it looks like in their ratings.

The PG27UCDM is a complettely different monitor than the PG27AQN. You can't group them together.
