I can easily see someone preferring these over ~$1k closed backs like the ZMF Bokeh Closed or DCA Noire X (both of which are quite good in their own right).

ZMF Bokeh: can’t buy on aliexpress and if you buy new then it could take 1-2 months for them to be shipped out. A lot more bass and lower midrange, a bit more treble than the LCD2s but less than the ft1 pro.
The Bokehs are easily my jack of all trades. I love them with all my heart and soul. For me they don't fail in any category. They also have sound signature I have never really heard in a headphone before. There's almost a shimmery echo in the sound. It makes my brain tingle and I love it. Definitely my gem in my collection.
Both the ZMF Bokeh and Focal Bathys have really good bass, and also great and accurate overall audio.
I have the hd660s2 and the Bokeh closed. And I love them both dearly (honestly my 2 favourites out of 20 plus pairs). ... the BC quickly became my favorite ZMF, even dethroning the Atrium Open. ... the BC are so fun to listen to, and look so good!

I also prefer the tonality of the Bokeh, but it’s just so damn heavy and doesn’t sit properly on my heard that in the end I’d much rather have an EQ’ed FT1.
All these sound better than the HD800 (my current headphone of choice and the best I’ve personally tried, and which, for the record, I also EQ), as well as other decent headphones I’ve had (some Focals, quite a few HiFiMans (men?), ZMF Bokeh, FT1, Azurys, a few others. Not to bore you with endless audiophile terms, but with IEMs, the sound is alive, lifelike, and just makes me want to move. It’s also simply quite a bit more detailed. To give a single example, the beginning in this ([https://youtu.be/EzPTLCZVjQs](https://youtu.be/EzPTLCZVjQs)) track sounds so lifelike on my Pilgrim, whereas my HD800 just sounds a bit dull to be honest, in comprison that is (it’s still a great headphone!). When the song really starts, it’s intoxicating on IEMs, but just sounds so-so on headphones for me. (For the record, I add 6db of bass and reduce treble peaks on the HD800, and I reduce the sub bass on the Pilgrim by quite a bit and remove some peaks as well).
This is a wonderful headphone. I enjoyed the LCD-2c for its simplicity and relaxed feel, but I found it boring. This solves of. Maybe less “relaxed”, but I find it engaging enough and relaxed enough to be a great work headphone. It also isolates well after you make the headband fit your head.
