Pros

  • In that case I’d recommend you to base yourself in Zadar or Dubrovnik. Zadar would allow you to visit Plitvice as a day trip.
  • I really liked Zadar as well: beautiful seafront, boat trips to some out islands, glass museum, good food, Roman history.
  • Rijeka je bit much for 3 days. It is not really tourist city. Rather change it for Zadar or Šibenik.
  • Go to zadar.
  • Split and Zadar have a real Mediterranean vibe, Split is bigger and has more to see but is further away. Both have city beaches. But all of them have nice people, food and architecture.

Alternatively Zagreb and Zadar also have direct flights. Zadar is also a good stop and Zagreb is nice for a day.

Go to Split for a couple days, then over to Hvar. Then head up the coast to Zadar or Primosten. Make your way to Rovinj.
