Yufuin

Pros

• We did a night in Yufuin and Beppu last time we were in Fukuoka and it was incredibly worth it
• I did Yufuin with my travel partner and stayed at an onsen overnight. Incredibly peaceful with the backdrop of Mt. Aso.
• I walked around the pond, visited a few temples, gardens, lots of restaurants and cafes. Im a snoopy fan so spent time in the cafe for dessert and the souvenir chocolate shop. The souvenir stores near the bus stop and train station were...
• It’s a really cute little town, but unless you’re planning to hike, you probably don’t need more than half a day.
• in Kyushu we absolutely loved Kumamoto and Yufuin.

Cons

• Parent context: I am not a fan of Yufuin either, but the crowd problem can be easily solved by walking few streets away (just like in Kyoto). I enjoyed walking on the other side of the Oita river along rice fields with zero people there....
• Yeah I definitely back this up on Yufuin. ... The rest of Yufuin I just was not impressed with beyond my ryokans dinner, that was amazing. And as you allude to it's way WAY too crowded.
• Yufuin in November was honestly overwhelming way too crowded and, for me, not all that special.
• Well… Was there last week. It could be that i missed something but as far as I could discover it was a touristy street with shops (quite long) and the lake. I might missed a lot, idk. But was very unimpressed.
• I have a house in beppu, i dont like yufuin that much.
