Pros

  • Everyone also knows it's better than the original by a wide, wide margin. It's not just a new coat of paint. There are multiple fighting styles instead of just one, new story cutscenes telling us more about Nishikiyama, and many minigame...
  • Every combat style also has its associated Heat Actions, which are INSANE. ... These heat actions are worth the price of admission alone.
  • I'm playing Yakuza Kiwami, finished 0 the day before yesterday. It's kinda all I'm thinking of these days
  • Same great gripping story and action as Yakuza 0. I hungrily played through this the same as Yakuza 0.

Cons

  • Majima Everywhere was an annoying bit of completion for me, just found the last parts of it tedious.
  • The substories were admittedly my biggest disappointment in this game. A hefty majority of them are just getting accosted on the street by some stranger to either beat them up or beat someone else up, with pretty much no follow up or plot.
  • Alright, everyone knows it's not as good as Yakuza 0. The story, the scope, the amount of substories, even the combat. Everything is lesser here because it has the dead weight of a game from 2005 that didn't know it was going to become a...
  • Doing more completion stuff in Yakuza Kiwami.
  • Nearly done with Yakuza Kiwami. There's just sidequest stuff left, but I'm getting tired of the Majima Everywhere system. I'm at a point where I can beat him without taking much damage, but it's a 3-5 minute fight every time now thanks t...

Everyone also knows it's better than the original by a wide, wide margin. It's not just a new coat of paint. There are multiple fighting styles instead of just one, new story cutscenes telling us more about Nishikiyama, and many minigames from future entries that make the original feel borderline miniscule.

Alright, everyone knows it's not as good as Yakuza 0. The story, the scope, the amount of substories, even the combat. Everything is lesser here because it has the dead weight of a game from 2005 that didn't know it was going to become a franchise.

Nearly done with Yakuza Kiwami. There's just sidequest stuff left, but I'm getting tired of the Majima Everywhere system. I'm at a point where I can beat him without taking much damage, but it's a 3-5 minute fight every time now thanks to his absurd healthbar. It makes exploring the town a bit of a nightmare since he reappears somewhere on the map every time I dare to even look inside a shop.

Yakuza Kiwami continues to be the game of all time. The story is intense and dramatic, but I do find it weird that the antagonist goes insane after killing like two dudes.

While perusing my library, I noticed I also have Yakuza Kiwami, so I might get to that later.
