Pros

  • Xigxag is UK owned and based. It’s not a subscription but the first 5 books a year cost £7.99 then the next lot £6.99 and after 20 they are all £3.99. The app is easy to use and has much the same as Audible.
  • Xigxag is what I use when I can’t get something on Borrowbox
  • Xigxag is good.
  • It looks like it doesn't have everything I read, but much more than I would have expected for such a service. Much less expensive than Spotify's 15hrs too
  • I have been using them for years and love them dearly. Good choice, pricing is half of Amazon, great customer service. Highly recommend.

Cons

  • I use Xigxag and Borrowbox
  • “We’re sorry, but we are constrained by our publisher contracts to ensure adequate security controls are in place to protect authors’ work from piracy. ... We don’t currently allow users to download xigxag books for use on other devices.”
  • Xigxag is locked to its own apps.
  • Our books can only be enjoyed in the xigxag app ☹️

I've come across XigXag, which looks like it has a good pricing model and is UK based.
