Pros

  • My favorite romances in fantasy are in the following books/series: ... * Winternight trilogy by Katherine Arden
  • Winternight Trilogy is set in medieval esque Russia, great character work, politics is mainly in the later books but definitely there
  • Well I'll go ahead and third the Winternight trilogy. It starts *very* slow but it has such a beautiful sense of place and a great character journey.
  • 100% Winternight Trilogy. It is beautiful.

I might suggest the Winternight trilogy by Katherine Arden. It's based on Russian folklore and fairytales, along with history. The main character does start the first book as a child and grows up as the first book progresses. I highly recommend it.

I loved the Winternight Trilogy by Katherine Arden. I’m not usually into fantasy but I was hooked immediately.

the Winternight trilogy by Katherine Arden... all have a decidedly classic vibe along with well-written female characters.
