Pros
- I adored Remember Me and Vampyr back when they came out
- I love Vampyr, but I usually refrain from recommending it to people. It's a fantastic conversation focused role-playing game, where all of your decisions have both story and gameplay consequences.
- To me, the meat, or blood, of the game is in the dialogue and choices. It’s like a Life is Strange game with somewhat generic third person combat. It was more than worth the time and 5 dollars I paid for it.
- I thought the combat was pretty good. Especially if you avoided feasting on any poor Londoners. Vampyr is always one of my answers when someone asks about Underrated gems of a game.
Cons
- I loved this game but I agree it has a huge identity crisis. Even being a good guy, keeping them all alive, you still have to slaughter a dozen fkers while walking from one district to another. And the combat is alright, too. But, what k...

- Great story, great background to characters, amazing environments, all let down by god awful combat. (And for completionists the pacifist trophy kinda goes against all the game should be) That said, it absolutely is a cult classic.
- Vampyr has an alright atmosphere with moody cello and violin, the rainy streets of London, embodying the depression of the Great War and the plague quite well. ... Except the combat is terrible. I see a lot of answers to complains online...

I loved this game but I agree it has a huge identity crisis. Even being a good guy, keeping them all alive, you still have to slaughter a dozen fkers while walking from one district to another. And the combat is alright, too. But, what kind of roleplay do I get out of bending over backwards to preserve the sanctity of life when I gut a dozen fully-grown clowns every 20 minutes?
Parent context: Vampyr is in my opinion, a great game with some major missteps that make it less accessible and overall bring the experience down lower than it could have been. Reply: Yeah I also thought the morality system was intriguing, but ultimately disappointing that the good ending is locked being zero civilian kills (though I still ended up doing it in my playthough). ... Like you, I also still enjoy the game quite a bit. I played on normal difficulty and didn't have too much of an issue with the combat.

Vampyr is in my opinion, a great game with some major missteps that make it less accessible and overall bring the experience down lower than it could have been... they didn’t properly balance the intriguing dilemma of consume people for more experience or spare them at your own potential. It’s a repeat of Bioshock’s little sisters, except even worse... combat was just fine, boss fights more annoying than satisfying.

Vampyr has an alright atmosphere with moody cello and violin, the rainy streets of London, embodying the depression of the Great War and the plague quite well. ... Except the combat is terrible. I see a lot of answers to complains online about the combat saying "oh yeah it is not so bad", "people just probably expected something like Bloodborne", "well the combat is not the focus". No. No, no and no.
Vampyr has an alright atmosphere with moody cello and violin, the rainy streets of London... I don't think any other vampire game manages to capture the whole "you are an undead abomination, and have to struggle to retain your humanity" theme so well... Except the combat is terrible. I see a lot of answers to complains online about the combat saying "oh yeah it is not so bad"... No. No, no and no. Any game, where there is real time action, and the camera is the number one source of your demise, has an objectively bad combat.
