Pros

  • It really is a fantastic game that was let down by introducing a gimmick most players hate - a countdown timer. Good thing you can just disable it from the start, which is what I'd strongly recommend, and just enjoy the intricate, well d...
  • I loved it! Big recommend to turn off the timer, cool mechanic, but ita more fun when you aren't worrying about it.

What redditors said (10 of 10)

The other major complaint I have about the game is that the combat system only works when you're facing down fewer than four enemies at a time. ... when it did happen it made me realize that the enemies don't attack to a specific beat like in dark souls or other games, their attack tempo didn't sync with your party timer. What this means is that if you have to parry one attack just before another enemy attacks you, then you will be left unable to parry the second (or any subsequent attack) and you will quickly get stun locked even by weak enemies.

This game had a lot of potential spoiled by a few unbearable flaws. The first was the timer, which was really unforgiving for a game in this genre. I can really only speak for myself, but I love to take my time exploring and backtracking to see how every room connects in metroidvanias, and the timer adds a level of anxiety that the game really suffered for in my eyes.

I listed a lot of cool things and I liked Unsighted, but I’m unsure where to put it, because I didn’t quite love it. It’s hard to pinpoint for me why that is, but I guess it comes down to the general flow of the game. I disliked some of the gam’s pacing and a lot of the puzzles didn’t to it for me as well.

It really is a fantastic game that was let down by introducing a gimmick most players hate - a countdown timer. Good thing you can just disable it from the start, which is what I'd strongly recommend, and just enjoy the intricate, well designed level and encounter design. From what I remember it had an excellent parry mechanic I never got tired of.

I really liked the interconnected world over different levels, it made me feel like I was exploring some old Zelda dungeons. But I found myself not caring a lot about the characters and the timer often worked against me (and them) because I prefer to take my sweet time exploring every nook and cranny. I also kept dying a lot because the art style was quite hard for me to read. And the bosses were easily the most tedious part. The story was ok. All in all not a bad game, but I’d rate it mid at best.

I think where the game falls short is the amount of dialogue each npc gets; with a premise like this it would have been a lot better if you could know the npc on a deeper level before choosing to extend their time.

The gameplay is really good. It's simple but very snappy. The character will do what you tell her to do and most mistakes feel like your fault not the game's. Environmental puzzles are easy to figure out but can be challenging to execute and the world is filled with them. The game looks good and sounds good.
