is it a red flag if it wasn’t issued instantly?
I applied for a UK ETA around 10 PM (GMT +4) and have yet to receive a decision. I saw online that it can be approved fairly quickly, and its making me nervous that its taking a while for it to be approved.
unfortunately this practice of websites with similar names to official ones is not uncommon in the UK. Google normally has "not a government website" above the bold title of each.
there’s an official app and i applied thru there. it was merely within minutes i had approval. the app scans the passport and you pay directly on the app. it fast and reliable.
it's good for 2 years and I would consider it cheap insurance.
Now you at least need an [ETA](https://www.gov.uk/eta). Says it’s for up to 6 months. Cost is 16 pounds.
Got mine yesterday. It was issued instantly within seconds.
Also if for some reason it doesn't come through can you alter your flight to cut the layover and fly direct and/or layover in a different destination? Might help put your mind at ease to have a back up plan just in case. But they say up to 72 hours so I'm guessing it's just a manual review and you'll get it in time
It says up to 3 working days on their website so if you applied yesterday (Tues) it should come through by Friday 🤞🏻
